Flow of Kimono Rental and Hair Styling at Kanowafuku

1. 01

   How to make a reservation

   At Asakusa Kimono Rental Kanowafuku, web reservations are available 24 hours a day, and we can accept reservations through the web up to 10 minutes prior to your visit. Please select “Hair Set Plan” from Kimono Rental Plans and choose your desired date and time. We will flexibly accommodate your request depending on availability, but we may not be able to meet your request during peak season, so please plan your schedule well in advance if your free time is limited, such as for a school trip, and make your reservation well in advance.

   Notes on Reservations

   • Cancellation policy: You can cancel up to 1 day prior to your reservation free of charge.
   • Same-day use without reservation: Please feel free to visit us except during peak season.
   • Required Time : 45 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes (may vary depending on congestion)
   • Web reservations: Available up to 10 minutes prior to the appointment time.

   
2. 02

   Visit Kanowafuku

   You can enter the store 10 minutes prior to your reserved time; no contact is required for tardiness of 15 minutes or less. The store is conveniently located 5 minutes from the nearest station. Please visit our Store Directions page to find your way to the store. If you do not have a cell phone, such as junior high school students, we recommend that you print out the directions to the store in advance and bring it with you.

3. 03

   Reception and Payment

   At the reception desk, the following checks will be made. Additional options and plan changes can be made on the spot, but please be sure to bring proof of identity (student ID or commuter pass) if you want to use student discount plan.

   Choose a rental kimono or yukata

   ＜About Kimono Selection＞
   Please enjoy over 600 types of rental kimonos and yukatas to choose from. If you have trouble choosing a kimono, our experienced kimono stylists and hair stylists will advise you.

   ＜About Plan＞
   Even in the case of the Couple Plan, you can choose from all types of kimonos and yukatas (summer only). Basically, there is no price change depending on the type of kimono.

   ＜About Options＞
   You can also choose optional accessories. We provide all the necessary accessories for your rental, so you can come empty-handed.

   Range of choices

   • Kimono prices: All Kimonos are available in any plan
   • Obi(belt): Basically provided as a set with the kimono.
   • Variety of Kimonos: We have over 600 carefully selected trendy kimonos.

   
5. 05

   Kimono and Yukata Dressing

   You do not need to bring anything. Experienced dressers will assist you at a dedicated dressing area. All necessary accessories (tabi socks, kinchaku, etc.) are also provided. However, we do not accept kimonos brought in for dressing.

   
6. 06

   Hair Styling for women

   We also offer hair styling to match your kimono. All hair-set plans include a hair styling using an curling iron or a hair straightener and a hair ornament. This service is available regardless of hair length.
   If you have hair extensions, you can also use the hair-set service as long as they are heat-resistant; there are five patterns to choose from, so it will be easier if you bring an image of your preferred hairstyle in advance. You may also bring your own catsuits and hair ornaments. (To prevent damage, please wear them by yourself.) If you use hair wax or iron, you may not be able to set your hair as you would like. Please come with no hair set as much as possible. Also, since each customer has her own style for bangs, it will be smoother if you have your hair styling of bangs. This is a plan for women and not available for men.

   
7. 07

   Choose your zoli(sandals)

   After the dressing and hair styling are completed, you will choose sandals to match the kimono or yukata you rented. Zori are also made every season to match the latest kimono trends. We also offer an optional bag that can hold a large long wallet for 500 yen (tax included).

   About Zori Size

   • Zori size: It is said to be easier to walk in zori when worn exactly right or with the heel sticking out about 1 cm.
   • Men: Available up to about 29cm in shoe size comfortably.
   • Women: Available up to about 27cm in shoe size; for LL size, there may be fewer varieties.

   
8. 08

   Luggage storage

   Except for valuables, you can leave all luggage not necessary for sightseeing in Asakusa Kimono. You can also leave your clothes and other items you have changed into. In addition, you can also leave your carry-on case from 1,000 yen (tax included) for school trips (extra charge applies during peak season).
   The entire kimono rental process up to this point, from reception to departure, takes 45 to 70 minutes on average, but this may vary depending on how crowded it is.

   
9. 09

   Strolling around Asakusa in Kimono

   Conveniently located in Asakusa, Kanowafuku allows you to enjoy sightseeing in kimono immediately after rent.

   • Kaminarimon: 1 minute walk from Kanowafuku
   • Sensoji Temple: 3 minutes walk from Kanowafuku
   • Ginkado: 3 minutes
   • Asakusa Hanayashiki: 9 minutes

   
10. 10

    Return Kimono

    Please return by the last return time (usually 17:30). Next day return is also available for 2,000 yen (tax included). Opening hours may be extended on certain days (e.g., fireworks festivals during the summer).

    Return Policy

    • Delay: Additional fees will be charged for late returns.
    • Next day return: A deposit of 5,000 yen is required at the time of use. The deposit will be returned upon your return the next day.
